Favourite thing to do in my job: Mixing specific metal salts to create brightly coloured crystals
About Me: I am a student scientist from Nottingham. I enjoy music, food and science (of course!)
I live in Nottingham and I will be finishing my degree in June. I’m originally from Suffolk which is why I support Ipswich Town Football Club! I live with my friends in a house and enjoy watching movies and listening to new music together. I enjoy discovering new places in the UK and all over the world, trying different foods wherever I go.
My Work: I use metals to make really large compounds which are magnetic (hopefully!) and conduct electricity. Sometimes, with certain metals, I will make really cool, colourful powders.
My Typical Day: I normally get up at 7AM, eat my weetabix then head to the lab. When I get there, I gear up and start mixing chemicals. Once I've finished with this I go into the office and use a computer to look at the things I've made.
What I'd do with the prize money: I would put the money towards starting a travelling science show, where me and some of my scientist friends will go to schools around the UK - educating and entertaining as we go!
