Matter is made of fundamental particles, which are divided into four categories of which each has three generations: positively charged quarks (up, charm and top quarks); negatively charged quarks (down, strange and bottom); leptons (electrons, muons and tauons) and neutrinos (electron neutrinos, muon neutrinos and tau neutrinos). This is part of the Standard Model of fundamental physics.
