A black hole is born when a star is dying and collapses in on itself, and matter is squeezed into a tiny, tiny place. This forms a place in space where gravity pulls so hard that not even light can escape! Because light can’t escape, we can’t see black holes, but we can see the event horizon around a black hole, where stars and dust are being pulled towards the black hole. It’s theorised that objects that enter the event horizon go through something called “spaghettification”, where the objects are stretched out by gravitational forces and end up looking like spaghetti!
